Wingspan: 28-34mm

A bivoltine species flying from May to late October when it is a common visitor to light and has been recorded from Las Descargues and almost all other sites. A species of grassland, farmland, broadleaved woodland and scrub.

The larva is polyphagous on herbaceous plants before overwintering as a fully grown larva in an underground cocoon where it pupates in early spring.
