Melanargia galathea (Linnaeus, 1758)

Marbled White

Wingspan: 48-55mm

Imago: Univoltine on the wing from late May to August when it is frequently encountered in the meadows and woodland rides of the Fournanty Plateau and the Causse. Adults can be found nectaring on Centaurea, Scabiosa, Cirsium, Carduus spp.

Larva: Polyphagous on grass species.
