Sitochroa verticalis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 30-34mm

A bivoltine species flying from May to September when it occasionally visits light and has ben recorded from traps at Las Descargues and those bordering the meadows of the Fournanty Plateau.

The larva feeds on various herbaceous plants, Cirsium, Atriplex, Rumex, Diplotaxis, Teucrium, Sarathamnus scoparius etc. It attains full size by the autumn, hibernates then pupates in the early spring.
