Pleuroptya ruralis (Scopoli, 1763)

Mother of Pearl

Wingspan: 33-37mm

A bivoltine species flying in May and June and again from July to September when it is a frequent visitor to light. It has been recorded at Las Descargues and wherever its foodplant is found.

Larva feeds on Urtica dioica with pupation taking place in a rolled leaf on the foodplant.
