Pyrausta cingulata (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 14-18mm

A bivoltine species flying from April to the end of May and again in July and August when it is a frequent visitor to the lights at las Descargues and can be taken from the traps bordering the calcareous meadows of the ridge and Causse.

Larva are feeders of Salvia pratense, Thymus spp. etc. with pupation following a period of hibernation through the winter months.
