Pyrausta sanguinalis (Linnaeus, 1767)

Wingspan: 14-18mm

A bivoltine species flying from April to June and July to the end of August. It is an occasional visitor to light at Las Descargues but is more commonly recorded from the Causse.

The larva are Thymus feeders hibernating through the winter in a tough cocoon before pupating in early spring.
