Endromis versicolora (Linnaeus, 1758)

Le Bombyx versicolore

Wingspan: male - 55-63mm female - 68-82mm

A univoltine species on the wing from March to the end of May when it comes ocassionally to light and has been recorded at, or near all woodland sites up to 2000m.

Larvae feed on Corylus avellana, Tilia, Alnus carpinus, Ulmus, and most significantly, Betula species. Overwinters as pupae with pupation taking place in a coarse cocoon on the ground.
