Cleorodes lichenaria (Hufnagel, 1767)

Wingspan: 30-40mm

A bivoltine species flying in May and June and again from July to early September when it is a frequent visitor to light and has been recorded from the Las Descargues traps and all woodland and scrub habitats. The form with dark blotches in the marginal and basal areas was named by Lhomme, chretieni.

The larva feeds on lichen growing onQuercus, Ulmus, Populus etc. overwinters as a larva before pupation takes place within the lichen it has been feeding on.
