Plemyria rubiginata ([Denis & Schiffermuller], 1775)

Wingspan: 26-34mm

A bivoltine species on the wing throughout May but not again until July and August. It has been recorded from Las Descargues and the woodland margins of the ridge. A species usually found in damp woodlands and stands of Alder neither of which occur anywhere near here.

The larva feeds on Betula, Crataegus, Prunus, Alnus, etc. Overwinters as an egg, feeds in spring and pupates in a cocoon attached to the foodplant.
