Coscinia striata (Linnaeus, 1758)

Feathered Footman
L'Ecaille striée

Wingspan: 32-46mm

A bivoltine species flying from May to September. A diurnal species recorded from the limestone pavement of the Causse but never from Las Descargues. A species of dry garrigue, calcareous grassland and heathland.

The larva feeds on Calluna, Lotus, Artemisia etc. overwinters as a small larva before pupating on the ground in early spring.
