Eupithecia haworthiata Doubleday, 1856

Haworth's Pug
L'Eupithécie de la clématite

Wingspan: 12-14mm

A univoltine species with an occasional, partial second generation on the wing from May to August. It is attracted to light and this small pug can be recognised by the orange suffusion to the upper abdomen. A woodland species often recorded from the plateau but is an infrequent visitor to lights on the Causse.

The larva feeds on Clematis vitalba overwinters as a pupa on the ground.
