Agonopterix arenella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan: 19-25mm

A univoltine species that hatches in late summer, early autumn overwinters as an adult and is often taken at light in May and June. A species of rough, unmanaged meadows it has been recorded at Las Descargues and from various sites throughout the Fournanty Plateau.

The larva feds on various thistles Centaurea nigra, C. jacea, C. scabiosa, Cirsium vulgare, Carlina etc.
