Xanthia togata (Esper, 1788)

Pink-barred Sallow

Wingspan: 28-34mm

A univoltine species on the wing from late-July to November when it occasionally visits light. Recorded from the Las Descargues traps and those bordering the plateau and gorge woodland. A species of broadleaved woodland, heathland and wetlands.

The larva feeds on herbaceous plants, sallows and poplars, it overwinters as an egg, feeds within catkins in early spring.
