Caloptilia syringella (Fabricius, 1794)

Wingspan: 10-13mm

A bivoltine species on the wing in April and May and again in July and early August. An occasional visitor to light but can be abundant where the mines are found. Recorded from mv light at Las Descargues but is not generally found at any of the other trap sites although this is almost certainly due to it being overlooked.

The larva feeds on Syringa, Ligustrum etc. where it can be a pest species.
