Apomyelois bistriatella (Hulst, 1887)

Wingspan: 18-25mm

A univoltine species on the wing from June to August when it is an occasional visitor to light. Recorded from Las Descargues but is more frequently taken from the birch woodland and heathland of the plateau. A species of heathland where it can be seen resting on burnt gorse or young birch trees.

The larva feeds on fungus, Daldinia concentrica growing on burnt gorse or young birch. The larva hibernates, fully fed, through the winter and pupates in the early spring.
