Satyrus actaea (Esper, 1781)

Black Satyr
La Petite Coronide

Wingspan: 48-58mm

A univoltine species on the wing from June to August. The preferred habitats are dry, rocky grasslands and meadows and heathland. An occasional visitor to the plateau but more often encountered on the Causse.

The larva feeds on various grass species.
